What is Sic Bo?
Sic Bo is a game that comes from China and uses three dice. There are a number of versions of the game including Grand Hazard and Chuck-a-Luck. Sic Bo for Real Money is a particularly popular casino game in Asia and is played in many casinos in Macau. During the early part of the 20th century, it came to America by way of the Chinese immigrants and is now available in most casinos and online at many gambling sites.
How is Sic Bo Played?
Sic Bo uses three regular dice that are put into a basket or cup and shaken. Today in many casinos, the dice are shaken by a machine and the outcome is then put into a computer that lights up winning areas of the table. The point of Sic Bo is for the player to bet correctly on what dice combination will appear on the table. There is a huge range of bets, since the dice can fall in many ways. The most exotic bet looks for a specific triple and has payout odds of 180 to 1 and the simplest bet involves just betting on the value of one dice with a payout of 1 to 1. You can bet on as many combinations as you want to each game.
Sic Bo Bets:
There are 8 basic ways to bet on a Sic Bo game. They are explained, briefly, here.
1. Three of a Kind - This is when you bet that one specific number will appear on all three dice. It pays out 150 to 1. It's not likely that you'll get this, but it's fun to try!
2. Two of a Kind - This is when two dice have the same number. It pays out at 8 to 1 and there are 12 ways to make this combination.
3. Any Three of a Kind - This is when you bet that all three dice will have the same number, but you don't specify what the number will be. It pays out 24 to 1.
4. Small - This is when you bet that the sum of the three dice will equal a certain number from 4-10 excluding a Three of a Kind. This pays even money.
5. Big - This is when you bet that the sum of the three dice will equal a certain number from 11-17, except for a Three of a Kind. This also pays out even money.
6. Sum - This is where you bet on a specific number on the Sic Bo layout table. There is an area with numbers from 4 to 17. You bet on a number from 4 to 17 as the sum of the three dice. The payouts vary a great deal depending on which number you've selected.
7. Duo - You can make a bet that two different numbers will appear on at least two of the three dice. It pays 5 to 1.
8. One of a Kind - This is where you bet that a particular single number will appear on either one, two or three of the dice. If the number appears on one die, you're paid even. If it appears on two dice, you are paid 2 to 1. And if it appears on all three dice, you are paid 3 to 1.
