Gambling has a Long History
The history of gambling is long and varied. In fact, when one thinks about today's gambling in terms of online fun activity and compares it to many years ago with classic casinos, they will see just how far it has come. With advances in technology (through the Internet), gambling has on the one hand changed a lot, but on the other hand stayed the same. Because of fantastic software which has translated in to super hot graphics and great sounds, what is happening today is that there has been a turnaround back to how gambling used to be. Vendors have recreated the classic gambling casino feeling for individuals in the comfort of their own home.
Origins of Gambling
So when did real money gambling begin? Well of course there are a lot of conflicting stories about its origins, but the one consensus is that it has been around in some form or another since ancient times, in different ways, with different cultures and countries. Some say that it goes back to around 2300 BC in China or even in 1500 BC when ivory dice were located in Egypt. Cards were very popular in China too as it was the Chinese who were the first to create paper and money using paper and they also taught the world about shuffling as that is what they did with their paper money in 900 AD.
In Egypt, gambling related words were found on a tablet on a Giza pyramid. But going back to ancient times, one can find tales of gamblers in Rome, India and Greece too. So it seems that the ancients really had a place in their lives for gambling.
Gambling in the Middle Ages
There are also tales of gambling for real money in the Middle Ages, but this came with various restrictions. For example, some countries made a law that stopped soldiers from playing gambling games as they were so excited about playing games that it actually interfered with their duties which certainly was not good for the country. In England gambling was banned by King Henry VIII as it was clear that soldiers were less and less dedicated to their country because of their enjoyment of gambling. Perhaps though they just found it to be a great way to relax, and that brings us back to modern gambling. Today, healthy people gamble as a way of entertainment and relaxation. If gambling can take one's mind off every day stresses and one sets a budget for their gambling, why not go for it? In this way gambling always has - and thus has the potential to always be - a very positive activity.
